| Festival of Sail The Festival of Sail, hosted by the Maritime Museum of San Diego, will kick off with a grand parade of ships on the San Diego Bay, Wednesday, August 20th and will then run through August 24th. The ships will be lined up along Harbor Drive on the embarcadero in Downtown San Diego, with thanks to the Unified Port of San Diego. A special appearance by the United States Coast Guard's tall ship Eagle will make this her first visit to San Diego since 1999. With ships from all over the world, visitors will get the chance to tour the ships, watch several tall ships in cannon battles and enjoy free entertainment. Visitors can also enjoy delicious food and drink and shop for special gifts with hundreds of festival vendors. | Twilight in the Park Summer Concert Series This summer Balboa Park will be filled with music during the Twilight in the Park Summer Concert Series. Twilight will feature 33 FREE concerts beginning June 17th and running through August 28th. This 28 year old tradition features programs ranging from jazz and rock ‘n’ roll to Latin salsa and country. | Summer Pops Concert Series The 2008 Summer Pops season of live music begins this June. Set in the scenic Embarcadero Marina Park South, every concert will feature the San Diego Symphony and a special guest performer. | Street Scene Street Scene is back downtown with forty bands, on four stages for two nights. Now in its twenty fourth year, Street Scene will return, on September 19th and 20th, to its urban roots when it is once again held in the streets of Downtown San Diego. The venue site will include Tailgate Park (adjacent to Petco Park) in the heart of East Village incorporating 14th Street as the main thoroughfare and bordered by Imperial Avenue to J Street. Featuring headliners Beck and The Black Crows, many of the 35 other bands made their start in San Diego and will be making their first appearance at Street Scene, adding a new twist and excitement to the event. | Run for the Hungry 5K & 10K: November 27, 2008 In benefiting the Jewish Family Service Foodmobile, the seventh annual Hungry Thanksgiving Day Run is fun for the whole family in downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. The race begins bright and early at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day followed by turkey-day delights, a party on the waterfront and the canned food drive. You can also bring your faithful pooch along for the run where they'll enjoy water breaks, a new bandana and a post-run treat.
